Listen up parents, the start of the school year is right around the corner. Lucky for us Target has made back-to-school shopping a breeze with their Target School List Assist program. With just a few clicks you can locate your child’s school supply list. Then you add the items to your cart and have it ready for pick up or shipped to your house. While we love shopping local to support Jacksonville businesses, sometimes you need items from Target to complete your back-to-school list.
Getting Started with Target List Assist
Step one in the Target School List Assist process is to choose if you want your items picked up in store or shipped to your home. If you’re trying to get your supplies ordered last minute, we recommend picking them up in the store. Target’s shipping is typically quick, but it’s not Amazon Prime quick.
Once you’ve chosen your delivery option you’ll search for your child’s school and teacher or grade level and all of the items from their list are added to your cart. There is no guarantee that every school will be available since schools have to upload their school supply information to Target’s website. If you don’t see your school listed you can always ask them to participate since it is a free service for the schools and teachers.
After you’ve selected your grade level/teacher all the items from their list are placed in your cart. You may even see a note from the teacher about any other items the students will need. You can choose to buy everything or you can scroll through and add/change/delete specific items.
A Word of Warning
While Target List Assist is hugely convenient and a big time saver when it comes to back-to-school shopping there are a few downfalls to the program.
- There may be items on the list your child doesn’t really need. Be sure to scroll through your entire list before purchasing anything to avoid buying items you may already own.
- Target prices are good, but they might not be the lowest. We found the Target prices to be reasonably low, but with lots of back-to-school deals out there you might be able to shop around and get a better deal.
- No back-to-school shopping bonding! If your kids love going to the store and actually shopping with you for back-to-school supplies then Target School List Assist probably isn’t right for you.
