If your kids are book lovers, you know the ones who always fill in those summer reading logs, then I’m here to tell you a trip to Chamblin Bookmine needs to be on your Jacksonville bucket list. Located on the westside of town (with an additional smaller shop downtown) Chamblin Bookmine boasts an overwhelmingly large selection of used books, they’ll also buy back your books for cash or store credit.
Sell Back Your Old Books
Chamblin Bookmine is a great place to sell back books your kids have outgrown. When you enter their shop you’ll see a spot where you can turn in your used books. Our family always cleans out our bookcases before making the trip over to the shop. If your kids are anything like mine, they have tons of books they aren’t reading anymore. Books that I’ve never bothered getting rid of. Bag them or box them up and bring them with you when you come to visit Chamblin Bookmine. While you shop an employee will go through your books and tell you what they’re worth. You can take your payout in cash or store credit. Any books that aren’t wanted for buy back will be returned to you or you can choose to have them donated.
Look for the Chamblin stamp inside the front cover. Used books can be identified by by the store stamp inside the cover or on the first page. Pricing for used books is 50% list price. The list price can usually be found on the back of the book.
Buy New Books at a Discount
New books are also discounted at Chamblin Bookmine. If you don’t see a store stamp in the front of the book then it’s probably new. Look for a handwritten notation at the top of the first page. New books have a small discount off the list price.
Your first visit to Chamblin Bookmine can be pretty overwhelming. Rows of books stretch floor to ceiling and seem to go on for miles. It can be challenging to see it all. If you’re taking the kids, head back to the children’s section first. The vast selection of kid friendly options will have them searching for that perfect title to take home.
Chamblin has Something for Everyone
Chamblin Bookmine really does have something for everyone. Kid to adult, fiction and non-fiction, new and used, the selection of books seems endless. If you need books for a classroom, or your house, Chamblin Bookmine is a great place to go. Not only can you browse their amazing selection, you’ll be supporting a local business and helping to upcycle previously owned material.
Our family loves visiting Chamblin Bookmine. We typically make a trip across town to their main shop on the westside a few times a year. I’ll drop a few bags of books while we shop and we end up with $50-$100 worth of store credit to be used to purchase new-to-us books. My kids know that they can choose any new books they want with their store credit which makes them eager to clean out their rooms and bookshelves searching for old books to sell back.
