Every year, Faithful Servant Missions hosts their annual Run with Mission. I’m not going to lie, for me to get into the spirit of running a race, I pretty much need to be actively chased by a hungry lion. Though I’ve always wanted to be a runner, a runner I am not. But I do enjoy a good charitable cause that is worth getting my running shoes on for.
An Annual Event
Coming up on March 30th in Nocatee, a nonprofit called Faithful Servant Missions is hosting their 6th annual Run With A Mission. This organization works year round in San Ramon, Costa Rica to break the cycle of poverty through education. Each day, hundreds of children from the community ages 3-18 are able to work in FSM’s educational programs. These include reading fluency and comprehension, math, early learning (preschool), and homework assistance. In a place where the overwhelming majority of parents are illiterate, FSM is able to step in and help these children to pursue their education and ultimately pursue their dreams.
Fun for Families
I think we can all get behind a cause like that. And quite honestly, the event itself is a blast for families. This event consists of a 10k, 5k, and one mile race. While the one mile is just for fun, the 10k and 5k are timed races and awards will be given for top finishers. The trails of Nocatee are beautiful and the event is for both runners and walkers alike.
After the race, bring the entire family back to the festival. There will be plenty of free food, music, bounce houses, and a silent auction that gets bigger and better every year. All runners will also receive a custom event shirt and goodie bag.
