If you’re looking for a great shaded park, with a fantastic themed playground, the look no further than Huffman Park. Located just off Beach Blvd, this hidden gem features sea-themed playgrounds, basketball courts, tennis courts, and soccer fields, providing activities for all ages. There is even a surrounding half-mile trail loop shaded by the palmettos and suitable for walking or jogging.
A Playground Perfect for Shade Seekers
Huffman Park offers standard playground features such as tunnels, rope climbing, swings, and slides. And as a space built with Kompan equipment, the playground offers a few unique features. Kids can come aboard the U.S.S. Hero, one of two play pirate ships. Another standout feature of Huffman Park is the climb-on whale. The park also offers free-standing equipment where littles can make music, spin, and see-saw. With several benches surrounding the playground, caregivers can seek respite within eyesight of the playground. The playground also sits beneath artificial sunshades and the trees, providing some escape from the Florida sun.
Activities for All Abilities
What makes Huffman Park especially exceptional is that it is inclusive. The park offers wheelchair accessible opportunities with ramps and large openings to enter the equipment. The playground is also set atop a rubber surfacing and artificial greens. This makes it easier, and cleaner, to navigate about compared to the typical mulch laden playgrounds.
Huffman Park also features engaging activities around the vicinity, with signs placed throughout encouraging kids to look, see, and hear the surrounding sights. Similar to our favorite StoryWalks, the signs include tips for adults to encourage learning opportunities as a way to engage the senses between play time.
Additional Amenities at Huffman Park
Huffman Park is also home to pavilions that are reservable and are first-come first-served as long as they are not occupied by those with permits. There are also accompanying grills for a chance to barbecue on-site.
What’s more, the park consists of every grownup’s favorite feature: on-site restrooms nearby the playground! With plenty of parking, getting in and out of the park is a breeze. The parking lot is centrally settled between the courts and the playground, offering a short walk to all activities.
